Now, lets see how to find work as freelance web developer?
Earlier I thought, As a Freelance web developer Most challenging part for my job would be to get freelance work and getting paid. If you have skills and strong communication skill it is not much difficult to get projects from Fiverr, Elance, Freelance or Odesk. But keep clients happy, means complete the projects on time and as per requirement is the most challenging part of the job. Be truthful and complete the projects in given deadlines, try to provide your creative inputs as well. Follow these simple steps to get success methodically.
Get a Website Portfolio
First of all I’d suggest that you get yourself a website, if you’re going to be a freelance web developer, you pretty much need a website or else nobody is going to take you serious(I wouldn’t), you can get a domain from Godaddy and great web hosting from Hostgator (because it’s trustworthy and cheap), design a portfolio theme or take a free HTML5 one page templates (coz they are gorgeous).
Choose a your name or your company like name for your website e.g. yuvrajzala.com or RedefineIT.com
Be Active on Freelancing website and Get a Job
Initially, if you don’t know how to find work as freelance web developer, sign up for these freelancing job site website. The most important part in building your freelance profile on any of these websites. You can get all sorts of job from this site. Website, SEO, content writing, Presentations etc.
At the moment I am getting good response from oDesk and Elance. Another important key is to charge the right amount on these websites. Do not underestimate your value and not charge too much. Analyze the competition and charge accordingly. Initially if it is tough for you to get job without strong portfolio. Start with making your own blog websites. Ask friends, family, local businesses if they need a website. Look on local forums also and bid on projects to get a portfolio built up. I had to work on the cheap for a couple hundred US$ for some static sites to get a portfolio built up. [ About the Freelance.com, it is very expensive and they will charge you for every small things like test, skill banner etc. so for beginners I dont recommend freelancer.com]
Be Active on Social Media
Social Media is the most important thing in networking. Not talking about just Facebook. Create a great presence on Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit & A niche blog on your field or expertise and post relevant posts and invite relevant people to your circle.
Be Responsive and humble
You should know your shit and complete the project on deadline. If you have doubt about the project, clear up it first. If you know that you may not be able to complete any particular project dont take it. Aim is to not the hinder your good name or image in these freelancing sites. Accept you mistake, if client points out. And if they are too much irritating and you are not comfortable declined the project humbly with all the possible reasons clearly.
Create Amazing websites
It would be amazing if your are creative in design along with web developing skills. You should have strong base of php and it’s different frameworks, HTML, CSS, jQuery, Ajax etc. Create amazing websites and and wow experience among your clients. Always give more than their expectations. Always select your project which falls into your skills zone. So, this is my answer to the question How to find work as a Freelance Web Developer!
